PEPR SPLEEN and UNIDO join forces for industry decarbonisation


On Tuesday, 21 October, the management of PEPR SPLEEN had the pleasure of participating in a meeting organised by UNIDO on industrial decarbonisation, held at the headquarters of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation in Vienna, Austria.
Thanks to Christophe YVETOT, UNIDO representative to the European Union, this meeting brought together experts and institutional representatives to explore ways to accelerate the decarbonisation of industrial sectors through innovation, research and international cooperation.
Session 1 – Industrial decarbonisation
Presentation of the SPLEEN programme for industrial decarbonisation by Fabrice Lemoine and Antonio Pires da Cruz, co-directors of PEPR SPLEEN, and Pierre Zoschke, programme manager of PEPR SPLEEN
Presentation of UNIDO’s activities related to industrial decarbonisation by Rana Ghoneim, Director of the Energy and Climate Action Division at UNIDO
Session 2 – Green hydrogen
Presentation by Smeeta Fokeer, Head of Policy and Industrial Development, on UNIDO’s role in developing green hydrogen ecosystems and international cooperation mechanisms
Presentation by Abdelilah SLAOUI, Scientific Coordinator of PEPR HYDROGENE, on green hydrogen in France
Session 3 – Energy efficiency
Presentation by Marco Matteini, from UNIDO’s Energy Systems and Industrial Decarbonisation Unit, on strategies and tools for improving the energy performance of industrial systems
Session 4 – Industrial mix: circularity and symbiosis
Presentation by Christian Susan, Project Manager at UNIDO’s Industrial Resource Efficiency Division, on industrial symbiosis, eco-industrial parks and circular economy approaches
Session 5 – Using data in a research context
Presentation by Nobuya Haraguchi, Head of the Industrial Policy Research Unit at UNIDO, on research and statistics
The meeting concluded with a discussion on future opportunities for collaboration, potential contributions to the SPLEEN Think Tank, and next steps for joint initiatives between PEPR SPLEEN, UNIDO, and France2030.
