Enhancing research in Europe to build a low-carbon industry : the main findings

On 18 September 2024, we organised an event in Brussels entitled ‘Enhancing research in Europe to build a low-carbon industry’.
The event, which was attended by representatives of the European Commission and French and European stakeholders (European partnerships, industry, researchers), brought together around fifty participants at two themed round tables:
- The industrial carbon value chain.
- The development of circular, low-carbon and energy-efficient industrial systems.
This was an opportunity to compare the expertise of various players on these issues, which are dealt with in PEPR SPLEEN projects and are crucial to the implementation of decarbonisation of industry in Europe.
In the document below, you will find a summary of the discussions and highlights of the day’s events, which provided an opportunity to :
- Raise the profile and visibility of the PEPR SPLEEN and the France 2030 plan in Brussels.
- Bring together French and European stakeholders committed to decarbonising industry in order to create and structure a national and European community committed to this issue.
- Bringing together experts to compare and contrast analyses on two key issues for the development of a low-carbon industry in Europe, while reaffirming the role of research and continuity between the ecosystems of fundamental research and industry in bringing out solutions that can reconcile decarbonisation and the competitiveness of European industrial players.
